Somos Asociación Civil Sostén
Somos el Sostén para mejorar el proceso de diagnóstico y tratamiento.
Sostén está formada por un grupo de personas con el compromiso de transformar la realidad de los pacientes oncológicos. Desde mayo de 2000 acompaña a las personas con cáncer a transitar su tratamiento, brindando apoyo, contención y asesoramiento. El equipo de trabajo está integrado por profesionales capacitados en diferentes temas de salud, gestión, derecho de los pacientes, evaluación de tecnología sanitaria, comunicación y desarrollo institucional.
Sostén está reconocida nacional e internacionalmente y cuenta con el aval de distintas sociedad médicas y académicas. Forma parte de diferentes redes y alianzas. Capacitamos a equipos de salud para que amplíen su visión sobre la oncología y acompañen eficientemente a quienes lo necesiten.
Desarrollamos el programa “Sosteniendo con la Palabra”, a cargo del equipo psicooncológico, para brindar un espacio de intercambio grupal donde la palabra sea vehiculizadora de las emociones para posibilitar un mejor afrontamiento de la enfermedad y de los tratamientos asociados de las personas con cáncer. Queremos colaborar con el control del cáncer en Argentina.

Luego de haber pasado por la experiencia de enfermar de cáncer en el año 2002, decidí empezar un camino de sostén para otras personas que tuvieran que atravesar por esa situación. También empecé a ver la vida de otra manera y a encontrarle un sentido diferente a todo lo que hacía y a lo que quería hacer, a disfrutar más de las pequeñas cosas y, fundamentalmente, a poner el foco en los afectos.
Cuando el cáncer aparece, atraviesa todas las esferas de la vida de una persona y también las de su familia. Impacta sobre el aspecto social, económico y laboral. Hay que afrontar largos tratamientos, por lo que es vital adquirir herramientas para lograr la mayor adherencia a los mismos. En estos años participé en el armado y desarrollo de diferentes programas sociales que acompañan a quienes tienen que transitar por él diagnóstico y tratamiento del cáncer y que lograron fuerte impacto en la comunidad.

We are the Support to improve the diagnosis and treatment process.
Bra is made up of a group of people committed to transforming the reality of cancer patients. Since May 2000, it has accompanied people with cancer through their treatment, providing support, containment and advice. The work team is made up of professionals trained in different areas of health, management, patient rights, health technology assessment, communication and institutional development.
Sostén is nationally and internationally recognized and has the endorsement of different medical and academic societies. It is part of different networks and alliances. We train health teams to broaden their vision of oncology and efficiently accompany those who need it.
We developed the “Sustaining with the Word” program, in charge of the psycho-oncology team, to provide a space for group exchange where the word is a vehicle for emotions to enable better coping with the disease and the associated treatments of people with cancer. We want to collaborate with cancer control in Argentina.

After going through the experience of getting cancer in 2002, I decided to start a path of support for other people who had to go through that situation. I also began to see life differently and to find a different meaning in everything I did and what I wanted to do, to enjoy the little things more and, fundamentally, to focus on affection.
When cancer appears, it crosses all spheres of a person’s life and also those of his family. It has an impact on the social, economic and labor aspects. You have to face long treatments, so it is vital to acquire tools to achieve greater adherence to them. In these years I participated in the assembly and development of different social programs that accompany those who have to go through the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and that achieved a strong impact in the community.
In Argentina, around 115,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed per year, and there is great inequity in the times of access to diagnosis, treatment and survival. The number of advanced diagnoses and barriers to access to timely care is worrying. There is much to be done and the joint work of all the sectors involved in its approach is essential to guarantee rights and avoid obstacles that prevent patients from receiving the care they need.
