Ovarcome Ovarian Cancer

From their website:

Our Mission Statement

To raise global awareness, to fund research in search of a cure, and to provide financial,
psycho-social, and informational support to Ovarcomers.

Ovarcome is inspired by the simple philosophy of support, love, and celebration of life.
Our dream is a world that is free from the scourge of ovarian cancer.

The Inspiration Behind OVARCOME:

Founder Runsi Ayona Sen’s mother, Atashi, lived her life with love and grace, and passed away peacefully, after 11 months of being diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer. She exhibited all or most of the B.E.A.C.H. symptoms for a long period of time but remained undiagnosed until the cancer was incurable. Through simple but lasting acts of kindness, Atashi supported her friends, family and everyone, all her life – and left us with the legacy to serve those impacted by ovarian cancer. Atashi’s spirit to Ovarcome life, death and everything in between, lives on through this foundation. Ovarcome is inspired by the simple philosophy of support, love, and celebration of life. Our dream is a world that is free from the scourge of cancer.

Runsi Ayona Sen created this foundation in honor of her mother. Atashi remained committed to her spirit to Ovarcome by embracing death with dignity and finality.  In honor of Atashi and all women diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Ovarcome was founded to create a loving community without social, religious, cultural, and geographical borders. Hence, the idea to change the world of ovarian cancer was born, the name Ovarcome was created by an epiphany at midnight. We set out boldly with the faith that we will create measurable as well as immeasurable impact.  We haven’t looked back since. Ovarcome was established on the pillars of unwavering commitment, love, service and conviction.

We believe the word Survivor gives power to cancer. We wanted to empower our Survivors instead. So, we coined the term OVARCOMER!
