South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation

From their website:

The South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation (SCOCF) was created by ovarian cancer patients, healthcare providers, and other concerned individuals to arm women in the fight against ovarian cancer. Our group has been built for:

  • Support of ovarian cancer patients
  • Education of the public and healthcare providers
  • Furthering research on ovarian cancer in the state of South Carolina

Overview

The South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation (SCOCF) was formed in 1999. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are headquartered in Greenville, SC and serve communities across the state.

Our Programs

Awareness
SCOCF participates in health-fairs, lunch and learns, and speaking engagements to improve awareness of ovarian cancer.

Do you have a group that we might share our story with or an event that we might attend? Please contact our office at 864-373- 6306 to discuss details.

Survivors Teaching Students®
This program was created as an innovative and critical national effort to educate students in health professional programs on ovarian cancer. The goal is to increase the number of health care providers who recognize the symptoms of and risk factors for ovarian cancer so that the disease is detected earlier.

Monthly Survivor Lunches
Ovarian cancer patients do not have to face ovarian cancer alone. The lunch bunch meets on a monthly basis for lunch and support. This is not the traditional type of group with structure. The group dictates the format. Survivors sometimes refer to it as “meeting your girlfriends” for lunch once a month.

New Patient Visits
We have survivors who volunteer to meet with newly diagnosed women, offering support and encouragement as they begin their journey. Our goal is to meet the new patient in person as early as possible after her diagnosis, often visiting on the first day of chemotherapy.

SC Ovarian Cancer Survivors Speakers Bureau

Need a speaker for a “Lunch & Learn” program for your church, community or employee group? We are happy to present a program designed to improve awareness of the warning signs and knowledge of ovarian cancer. We have survivors who share stories of hope following their diagnosis and treatment. Many share that they were unaware of the warning signs, but can look back and see that they were present and in many cases, not initially recognized by their doctors.

We can tailor a program to any allowed time frame and setting. Call 864-373-6306 or email us at info@scovariancancer.org.
